Lasantha De Alwis
Lasantha is the Telecom Policy & Regulatory lead of the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme of the UK Home Office. Before joining the Programme in 2019, he worked as the Telecom Trade lead at the then Department for the Digital, Culture, Media & Sport. Prior to that he has worked at the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation, the Commonwealth agency mandated in telecommunications and ICTs, for 13 years, in various capacities, ending with Director – Operations. At the CTO he led a number of projects including developing a model Cybersecurity Strategy and a model Broadband strategy for CTO’s member countries. He has been in the telecommunications sector since 2000, starting with Sri Lanka Telecom. Lasantha is a member of the Legal & Regulatory Working Group of TCCA. He is a Lawyer and holds a MBA.
