Edwin Bron
After finishing his study Electronics/Telecommunications in 1996, Edwin started his career in the telecommunication sector. From this early phase in his career Edwin was able to combine his technical knowledge and expertise with a clear view on business goals. During his first job he graduated cum laude for his second engineering degree (commercial engineering). Later he has also finished a special internal “Potential Development Program” of KPN.
After his appointments within Casema and Intercai/ Getronics Consulting, Edwin started working with TetraNed in December 2001. Initially he was the Lead Architect for the C2000 TETRA network for the Dutch safety organisations. After some years Edwin became the manager of all architects and engineers. During this period Edwin broadened his technical view: he was not only responsible for the design of the mobile radio network, but also for the data transmission layers, the datacentres, the software development, etc. In this function Edwin has spoken several times on International events.
Edwin later worked as a Principal Technical Consultant for various KPN customer teams, where he always fulfilled a bridging role between technology, commerce, and operations.
Currently Edwin is assigned as Client Technology Officer for KPN Defence and National Security. Together with his colleagues, partners and of course the customer Edwin assures that the ICT, as delivered by KPN, is evolving with the customer needs. He also addresses business opportunities or threats as caused by the ICT development in the context of the operational needs of the customers. Issues that are currently relevant are: increasing dependency of reliable connections, how do we handle the huge amounts of information and the reliability and security of the information. Edwin shares his view and knowledge in articles in professional journals and is also a much-appreciated speaker on seminars and conferences.
