Duncan Swan

British APCO nominate Duncan Swan, Chief Operating Officer, to be one of the ICCA 2025 judges. Duncan has had a distinguished career working across the critical communications community not only in the UK & Ireland but globally. He continues to be a regular speaker at conferences, contributor to industry journals, and recent judge to several critical communications awards including the International Critical Communication Awards (2023 & 2024), ARCIA (Australian Radio Communications Industry Association) in 2024, and the UK & Ireland Control Room Awards in 2023 & 2024. Duncan understands the rigours of judging technical entries on the merits of the submission alone and the need for impartiality. His hands-on experience in radio communications and critical control rooms – working both supplier side and with the user community – has provided unique insights into understanding what makes a product, a service, or an individual/team stand out amongst the crowd as being innovative and worthy of peer recognition. And his career has seen him hold senior positions for the organisation with which he has worked – Partner at Analysys Mason, one of the Founding Directors at Mason Advisory and now Chief Operating Officer at British APCO; but also key leadership positions for organisations he has worked with in his role as Independent Advisor.
