Sepura Launches VHF TETRA Solution at CCW 2022

21/06/2022

Sepura has launched its first VHF TETRA radios at CCW 2022, providing users in challenging environments with a powerful, proven TETRA communications solution.

VHF TETRA is an ideal solution for organisations operating in remote, expansive outdoor environments or with extensive underground networks. Because VHF signals carry further in open spaces, Sepura’s VHF devices can provide a cost effective, end-to-end solution for the most demanding mission critical operations.

Sepura’s VHF solution utilises the proven reliability and security of TETRA with the powerful audio processing of the SC Series radios, providing users with crystal clear audio in loud, wet or dusty conditions.

Variants of the proven SCG22 mobile and hand-portable SC20 TETRA radios make up the VHF solution, operating within 136-174MHz.

The SC20 and SCG22 are relied upon globally by public safety professionals, oil and gas services, transport, and airport providers. These devices benefit from an extensive ecosystem of audio, power and carrying accessories as well as advanced functionality from the AppSPACE applications portfolio and wireless programming capability.

Because VHF signals carry further in open spaces, operators can make significant savings on infrastructure provision. Thanks to this, a VHF solution incorporating Sepura radios and currently available VHF TETRA infrastructure, provides a flexible, cost-effective solution while still providing full mission critical functionality.

Terence Ledger, Worldwide Sales Director for Sepura, said: “This is a significant first for Sepura - adding VHF frequencies alongside our existing UHF solution enables Sepura to offer TETRA solutions to a wider critical communications market. This includes mining, transport and public safety organisations around the world. We are really excited by the new customers this opens up for us.”

Sepura’s VHF devices were launched at Critical Communications World, held in Vienna. At the same event the company launched the dual-mode version of its SCU3 Broadband Vehicle Device, which now features both TETRA and LTE bearers, allowing true mission-critical voice capability for LTE users.
