Richard has been working on the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme since 2016 and is currently Managing Director for the Emergency Services Network business unit within BT Business.

He leads the team building the Emergency Services Network (ESN) and Coverage-as-a-Service offerings - building services and products to connect ESN and Enterprise customers with mission critical, life critical and safety critical communications solutions.

Prior to taking commercial and leadership roles for ESN, Richard was responsible for the EE relationship across BT divisions for mobile virtual network operators (MVNO), fixed networks, business-to-business and new business development. He also undertook a range of special advisory roles, business development and managed the team responsible for roaming, interconnect and international M2M.

Richard started his professional career as a Solicitor, rising to Senior Associate before making the move into the telecommunications sector, initially as legal counsel then expanding to broader and more strategic senior commercial business positions.
