Networked Security – Things, Humans, and Critical Infrastructures

15 May 2018      15.00-16.00

Jochen Schiller, Board Member, Freie Universität Berlin / Einstein Center Digital Future

What are the challenges for networked security? How can we handle more and more things that interact - and humans, industry, and authorities being in the loop of safety and security systems? How do we handle new threats created by the complexity of the infrastructure and new forms of attacks?

The presentation will discuss the challenges of the upcoming complexity due to “things” that will communicate in critical situations rather than humans, challenges for control centers to handle new complex events, and the fragility of the new communication ecosystem relying on Internet technologies. Furthermore, the presentation gives first insights on how to integrate the new technologies and how to include industry and public into the challenging task of networked security.
