A European way for critical infrastructure communication on the example of smart grid

16 May 2018      11:30-12:00

Dr Panagiotis Paschalidis, Senior Consultant, P3 Communications GmbH

The presentation focuses on the European perspective of critical communication networks in the energy domain as a key example of critical infrastructure. We illustrate possible scenarios on the operational responsibilities of such networks that are maybe rolled-out or established towards serving critical energy infrastructure applications. We analyze and juxtapose the respective duties of the main stakeholder organizations. The illustration addresses mainly economical aspects paramount towards grasping the full impact of dedicated networks. We pursue a high-level cost benefit analysis, starting out with a cost modeling breakdown for a European wide LTE network providing technical and investment related insight in the analysis.

DURING THIS SESSION ATTENDEES WILL LEARN:

1. About the different roll-out and operational scenarios of critical communication networks in the energy domain

2. About the involved stakeholders and the respective duties in each scenario

3. About the modelling of the cost breakdown for a European wide LTE network

4. About the cost impact for each stakeholder for each scenario
